It is a very important decision a parent makes when choosing a school for their child; a place to not just teach them, but to care for them too. ICS is everything I could want in a school and so much more. At the International Children’s School, there is time for play and there is structured learning. The principal is approachable and her passion for the children is evident in everything she does. The methods used in this school engage children (even PreK) in learning concepts and skills far beyond anything they would receive in traditional schools. AND THE KIDS ALL LOVE IT! My shy four year old now shows off her Math and Reading skills to family and strangers alike. She is learning Spanish, Mandarin, and American Sign Language; and even teaches it to her siblings! She is eager to do her homework and often finishes her older sister’s 2nd-grade homework too. The passion for learning that exists inside the teachers here is contagious and all of the children at ICS have it in spades. Schooling doesn’t stop with academics. This year ICS hosted a curriculum in art, music, yoga, dance, gymnastics, tai chi, and ice skating too. Time is also devoted to etiquette and handwriting. They teach the whole child. International Children’s School is an investment into your child’s future; a future that is infinitely brightened by the love and knowledge imparted here.

My husband and I are professionals with Ph.D. degrees in engineering. We both work full time; so finding quality care for our two daughters is our top priority. The International Children’s School has been the best experience for my daughters and for us as parents.
My first child attended the International Children’s School (ICS) for 2 years for preschool and kindergarten. Before she attended ICS, she was still learning the alphabets. A few months after she joined the school, we were so amazed to find that she started reading and writing 3-letter words! By the time she graduated from the ICS (age 6), her reading and math skills are already at the 2nd grade level. She also learned Spanish, French, music and ice-skating for enrichment activities at the school.
More importantly than the academic skills, she also built up her self-confidence at the ICS. With the successful learning experience, she is always eager to learn new things and confident on taking challenges. One day she came home singing the song “We can move the world, we can touch the sky, we can climb the highest mountain, spread our wings and fly.” Such positive attitude taught at the ICS is very essential for a child’s development. She believes that she can learn when she works her best.
Now at 3rd grade, she continues to love learning and her reading and math skills are well above grade level. In this year’s Continental Math League, she won the first place in the entire school 3rd grade. We feel that the skills and positive attitude she learned from ICS have made and will continue to make the most impact on her learning.
My second daughter is currently enrolled in the International Children’s School. In less than a year, she has learned all the letters and their sounds, three letter words, simple additions and subtractions, and she is learning blends now. She loves to read and is building up her confidence in learning. We are very impressed with her progress at the International Children’s School. We are very thankful that my daughters had the opportunity to attend the International Children’s School. I strongly recommend the school.

My wife and I are both physicians who have re-located from Canada. Upon arriving in VT. we researched several schools in this area for our 4 year old daughter, without having success. One of our colleagues suggested that we contact The International Childrens School. We were so thankful for his help. We were looking for more than a play all day school. The children we met came and introduced themselves to us and welcomed us to their school. She was so happy in this environment . She would not stop talking about all the new things she has learned. She is now an excellent reader and knows a great deal about the human body and how it works and her math equations are what she called easy -pesy. My wife and I are very grateful and for ever Thankful to The Principal and her staff.

My 5 year old daughter has had such a steep learning curve in the last 18 months. When she started she barely knew her alphabets and now she can read small chapter books. She does complex addition and subtractions in Math with confidence. Kids are taught good manners and discipline in a loving manner. Compared to most other centers, it is very spacious and clean which helped her (and us) stay healthy. They do lot of activities-ice skating , apple picking and summer parties. I admire the dedication and commitment of the principal who is easily approachable and open to suggestions. I am very thankful and owe a great deal to the the school who contributed significantly to my daughter’s early learning experience. I am a physician who believes in strong foundation for a successful future.

This is being written from a fellow teacher. Each time I visit I never cease to be amazed as to how much the school has grown academically and in resources. It started out as just a preschool, but today houses preschool through 2nd grade. Besides teaching regular academics, children get to ‘visit’ other countries through reading, writing, dance, music, and art. French and Spanish are also taught. Interesting projects accompany lessons such as making simple windmills for Holland, or the Eiffel Tower for France. There is also United Nations day, which is a big annual event, whereby at least fifteen countries are explored through festivity, and parents contribute international food and artifacts. The school also participates in Kid’s Day held in Burlington, by creating a float for the parade. The school has a warm friendly atmosphere, and the founder is a dedicated woman devoted to enriching the lives of children.

My son has been in this school for last two and half years and we are very happy with the school. In my knowledge this is the only early education program in this area and the teachers and the principle do a wonderful job of teaching young children with dedication and love. The children learn different languages (English, French and Spanish), Math, music and theme along with time to play as well as story time. I have always found the children to be very happy and I know of parents who have sent all four of their children here. There is more discipline in the school compared to a public school, but it is implemented in a loving manner. The principle is very approachable and is always eager to implement good ideas. Overall, I am very pleased with the school and my son has always had a positive experience here.

This is the first year that our 3 year old son has attended (ICS) International Children’s School in South Burlington, Vt. We have been nothing but amazed by the progress that our son has made both academically and socially. He has gone from learning the different sounds that different letters make all the way up to reading and writing 1st grade words as well as major leaps in other areas such as math. We appreciate the school’s willingness to learn about other cultures and languages. Our son has been introduced to major composers and artist and learned the basics of Spanish, French and Chinese. The International Children’s School has not only been a great place for our son to learn, it has proven to be a wonderful place for him to have fun and make new friends. He also loves show & tell day…The school has provided many opportunities for children to play: ice skating, apple picking,, hiking trips as well as many inside as well as outside games and activities. Every morning it’s great to see our son excited to go to school …

This school has been the best experience for my son and for us as parents. My husband and I are from high level academics. We were looking for an educational environment for our son and he is so happy here. The Principal is very organized and a strong leader. She has a difficult task in carefully choosing the best person to teach in this type of learning school. Teachers today are not trained to teach spelling, Reading, writing, Math etc. to young children as young as age 3. You can see her devotion to the children at school. They have rules but as a parent I am so pleased to have my child in a safe, kind, and organized atmosphere. When we come to pick him up after a long day, We find ourselves running around the classroom in attempts to get him to come with us, and watched several other parents doing the same.
